Hello friends,

I thought this would be a useful tool for those of you new to or interested in Raga music.

I am including a pdf of the booklet, a link for the music on spotify and the track listing (as it describes time of day and rhythm).

Please note that the audio portion of this journey is really best looked at as a support of the book. 5 minutes is nowhere near enough time to properly explore a Raga.  That said, I find this to be an excellent reference when comparing the relationships that each Raga shares with time of day and season.  It is also valuable as a reference for understanding different rhythms.

Hi Mike,

I have that book but haven't studied it anywhere near the extent I intended to when I got it.

I appreciate you sharing this information, but also, I am concerned about file sharing someone elses copyrighted, published material on this forum. If the publishers have made this available for free, then ok, but if not, it probably should come down..... or instead of sharing the download, share the publisher's link.

Rich, I considered that. The publisher has the book available on Scribd - which I can link to rather than uploading if you like - and Spotify (as well as Apple Music).  These are both sort of free as you can use them without paying.  What paying for both of these platforms allows is downloading.  I pay for Scribd, but not Spotify (I pay for Apple Music, but hardly anyone uses that).  I will proceed according to what you think.

Yeah, I would feel better if we have the link to Scribd instead of the download. Thanks.

I made the adjustment.  I have to give a shout out to Scribd.  I love the site so much.  Totally worth $9 a month.
