Hello Everyone,
I've been away for several weeks and not checking in here too often during that time, but see that there has been no posting for about a month. Of course we don't need to 'talk' everyday! The intent here is for quality over quantity. However, I would also like to ask if there are any thoughts, wants, desires, comments etc that anyone may have in regard to the forum - anything that you might like to see happening here but are not?

This forum was an idea and an experiment that is now just about six months in existence. I still think it serves a purpose and fulfills a need in the Sound Healing/Therapy community as a place for thoughtful and intelligent discussion, a repository of sorts for grounded and conscious information and ideas - a place where we may find a bit of respite from the boatloads of nonsense that overwhelms so much internet sound healing activity these days. I am thankful to all who have contributed up to this point and I hope to see it continue into the foreseeable future and beyond.

I think that there are many puzzling aspects to the world of 'sound healing' in general. Interest is sometimes 'fad driven', or closeted. My general feeling is this occurs because many within the ranks are very limited in the sum of training they possess. A recent online survey I posted into a sound healing group on Facebook could not muster enough attention to warrant a sampling of responses. The survey was a simple exercise to simply identify what people saw themselves performing when they worked with sound. The Facebook group had over 2 thousand members, and only less than 1 percent participated in the survey. Even though the modality of sound healing is basically very popular, very little of it's own membership takes it seriously enough to establish it on firmer ground. Here's an example of the 'seriousness' of what I mean. Many sound healing programs are run in Yoga studios, but many who perform in these studio's have little or no training in sound, but if you were a teacher in this studio, the ownership would require you to have at least 200 hours of training before you taught any form of a program on that premise. So on one hand you need a minimum of 200 hours and on the other zero. This is a conundrum I really find hard to accept and explain. We are serious but we're not? And you could apply this to the survey I tried to initiate, we're serious enough to join a Facebook group, but I can't answer the question of what I do?

I think It's fair to say that people who call themselves 'practitioners' want information sources that can help them, such as this forum. A recent program I was teaching, had many students in it, who read this forum, and find it very helpful.

Speaking for myself; I have been studying and practicing a lot, leading gong sessions, reading books my teachers have recommended, taking a break from being on computers as much as possible, going out dancing, as well as getting out in Nature since the weather here in Illinois has been so nice.

I by no means have abandoned this forum, and look forward to its long and rich life!

Love, Light and Happy day to you all!

My interest in SH in general has been waning. Well, not so much the topic, but in discussing, arguing, teaching, etc. in it's current state. Too much time and energy feels wasted, for very little return. I recognize that at present there is very little interest in my perspectives or experiences, and very little that I see out there that interests me right now. Better for me to get back to writing, performing and recording, and teaching actual musical stuff, which are far more enjoyable, and feel more productive. Or maybe I should switch to comedy, or professional rugby?  Anyway, considering my status, perhaps it would be appropriate for me to resign as a moderator.

Steve, I don't agree that there is very little interest in your perspectives or experiences - well, at least not any less than in mine or Mitch's or anyone else around here that has something thoughtful to offer. The sound healing scene, at least as viewed on the internet, IS flooded these days, even overwhelmed maybe, with truckloads of nonsense, psycho-babble and pseudo-mystical bullshot. I agree that it can be a major waste of time and energy to engage it on that level. On the other hand, even though we do some of that engaging here, I think one of the primary strengths of this forum is in it being a place where we can meet, discuss, share and spread some good thought, experience, perspectives and knowledge that operates with a greater level of integrity than the average facebook/website 'sound healing' postings.
So, personally, I think your voice is greatly valued, needed even.

As far as getting back to writing, performing, recording and teaching, yeah man, surely a good road to take - and I too, while performing regularly a reasonable amount, am in dire need of moving forward with writing and recording projects, but I can't rightly blame my forum activities or facebook posting for not doing so. Maybe you can, but for me, this forum doesn't take up too much time, and excess facebook/computer time in general is more the symptom of avoidance, not the cause.

I don't know anything of your rugby skills, but at your current age etc, I suspect comedy would be your better bet - in fact, I doubt it would require much of a 'switch' in your outlook, thinking or practice! ;-)

This forum is a wonderful, and for me personally, very valuable platform for learning and sharing quality insights gathered from real life experience in the SH field. I feel that it also serves in general to share our experience, strength and hope as it pertains to our various activities in the SH arena which, for most, directly transfer and extend into our lives. A seasoned and experienced person like you Steve is a capacity whose contributions are very well respected, at least by me, and I am certain by many others. And I agree with Rich, am not certain about your Rugby career at this stage, perhaps in the Master's category [wink]

The element of time, and the multitude of activities that are part of running a business, or two, while being a one or two man show, take up a lot of resources, mostly time and energy. And then yes, not to forget, there is family and life in general.... So.... a "Lull in activity" in my opinion and case is not a matter of lack of interest but rather a matter of making it all happen within a 24 h segment, while balancing out the impact of various pulls in many directions to the best of my abilities....There are many valuable entries on this forum that are on my list to read and dive deeper into and I am trying to carve out the necessary time out for. And if you consider the content on here that has been accumulated in just about 6 months...bravo.

All in all, I am very grateful for the creation and existence of this forum, its moderators and all contributors. It serves well and fills an important spot.

Wishing you well,
Marian Kraus
