Hello all,

I am a research psychologist passionate about sound healing, so this is my primary area of research. Please feel free to visit my website: soundhealingcentral.com or my FB site (both entitled 'Sound Healing Central with Dr. Goldsby').

Hello and welcome aboard Dr. Goldsby, looking forward to seeing your research. I am a bit confused about this statement on your website - "Sound healing is easy, requires essentially no learning curve"- I find that a bit careless to suggest that 'learning' is not required. Your 'copyright' needs to be updated on the website.

Thank you for your welcome and your feedback. I understand that that statement seems a bit simplistic. It was written due to our attempting to bring sound healing to the public on a larger scale, so as not to intimidate people who are concerned that they may need to undergo years of training to play a bowl.  Perhaps I need to expand on it a bit more. Thanks.

Thank you for the comment and explanation. It's these very musings that inspire the AMTA to make arguments, and the reluctance of the scientific community to engage the conversation. For all too long, the weakest voices have carried the conversation of sound healing to the public, which is one reason this forum became a portal for conversation.

Thanks, Mitch, I agree with what you've said.

There is in fact quite a lot that goes into being a competent, effective and gifted sound healing practitioner.

Quite a lot more than just hitting a bowl.... and even there, I am occasionally shocked and appalled by the
lack of sensitivity and skill in people who are actively billing themselves as "sound healers".

I'm rather 'old school' with all this as I see it as something where practitioners are best to spend a number
of years, learning and practicing, immersing in the sound, apprenticing and being mentored if they should
be so lucky...before putting their sign out.

Of course this also doesn't mean anyone shouldn't get a bowl, or other instruments, and begin working with it
themselves. But like anything, it takes awareness, dedication and understanding to open up and deepen the
experience.
